This is a great trip for seeing the Amalfi Coast. You cover a lot within a week. There were 2 hikes for more active group members. There is also a chance to see the beautiful Italian architecture in towns such as Amalfi, Positano and Ravello. Our guide (Sev) integrated us into the Italian culture well and made everyone laugh! The hotel is a friendly warm place. The staff host cooking demonstrations some of the evenings, which was great fun.
Fabulous small group tour This was a really great tour of the Amalfi coast. Our tour guide Enrico was amazing and knew so much about the area, restaurants and more! He made sure everyone was ok and had what they needed. Every day we walked to a different town. Be prepared... Hundreds of stone steps.... But all so beautiful!
An enjoyable trip - thanks
I want, above all, to write about travelling to Italy and back by train. I was so pleased that you have added train travel to trips and I really enjoyed getting there and back this way. When I mentioned it to people in my group, most were unaware that it was an option and said they would have done it too had they known it was a possibility. I think it needs to be flagged up much more prominently and perhaps featured more prominently in your promotional material. I booked a couple of extra days here and there and had such a good time exploring cities and extending the holiday.
A couple of notes:
I booked in January? and was given details of hotels at that time. I was also asked to pay an additional £30 to cover hotel costs. I was contacted again much later about the travel arrangements and given details of a second set of hotels. When the train tickets were finally secured, only a couple of weeks before I went, I was given the details of a third set of hotels. Not great as I wasted time printing out details and looking the hotels up. I don't understand either why the train tickets were not bought sooner. I understood that they would be un-refundable and had taken out insurance to cover myself. Surely, it would have been cheaper for Exodus to buy them as soon as possible? I was also booked on a slow stopping train between Naples and Florence, meaning I lost out on time there.
All the hotels were fine, although I was asked to pay for the Turin hotel. I have been in touch about this already and this is in hand. One point though: the Park Palace Hotel in Florence was lovely and in a beautiful part of the city, but I spent £50 on taxis getting from and to the stations which I thought was rather too much.
