Fantastic once in a lifetime trip to Machu Picchu We were on the 4 day Inca Trail hike with our guides Pepe, Toro & Sarah. From the briefing in Cusco the night before the trek we felt completely safe and looked after. All 3 guides made sure everybody in the group was able to trek at their own speed and didn't feel rushed (something I had been worried about before the trip, I needn't have worried!!). They had enthusiasm and energy to motivate the group from the first morning and we had plenty of stops along the way to hear information about the Incas, Machu Picchu and the local population. The chef was outstanding, with every meal being too much for us to eat! and really high quality (fried fish, salads, cerviche, pastas, pizzas, stir fried vegetables, rice, tortillas, fruit) as well as fruit and snacks for the trek each day. They even baked a birthday cake for one of our group on day 2!!! The guides arranged a social moment on Day 2 for us where all of the porters introduced themselves to us and vice versa which was really special. They work so hard (not just carrying packs but cooking/cleaning/setting up tents and packing away/providing tea and washbowls) and always had smiles on their faces. On Day 4, the team made sure we were one of the first groups up early and at the entrance gate (under shelter) to start the last hike to Machu Picchu sun gate which gave us space to take photos and also to enjoy a good 2 hour tour of Machu Picchu itself.... honestly, you will get lost in Pepe's passion for the history of such a special place to the country and people. If your thinking of booking, I wouldn't hesitate to choose this local travel specialist again .... do it !!! :-)
Once of life time experience! Words and photos will never be able to describe the phenomenal experience I had on the Classic Inca trail to Machu Picchu with this agency. You must request Teddy and Gregory as your guides along with Chef Cecilio and Head Porter Eugenio. This crew was outstanding and made my trip. Teddy and Gregory are the most amazing humans! They have so much sincerity to ensure you not only have a safe hike, but a fun journey. They are knowledgeable and have great historical facts and stories along the trail, they always have a positive attitude, and their encouragement to keep pushing gives you faith that you can make it - these two made you look forward to what was ahead (and let me tell you, it was challenging!) Chef Cecilio prepared outstanding meals morning, noon and night. You were never hungry and the variety was mind blowing considering we were in the middle of the mountains! Eugenio and his crew of porters - WOW! These porters are in charge of setup, teardown, and carrying everything (tents, your pack, food, toilet, etc,) from base to base. They are swift - waking up before us and going to sleep after us, the kindest, and work so incredibly hard to ensure you have everything you could need and more. I was blessed to be paired with 13 incredible humans from around the world. We all bonded so well and rallied each other when we saw the trail trying to defeat us. I know lifelong friends were made on this trip. Our weather could not have been more spectacular with the exception of a few hours on the final day, where is rained all the way to Machu Picchu before the sun shined over the ruins! I'm not an experienced hiker at all. This was my first hike ever. I didn't train, I booked 10 days before the hike, and truthfully, if it wasn't for everyone mentioned above, I would have never competed the hike. It was that mentally and physically challenging for me. Surrounded by the right people you can do anything!! Let me start by explaining how David went above and beyond to get permits for our trip in the last minute. We contacted him via WhatsApp, one day before of our trip to check if he can accommodate us. He did some magic and got permits for next day. It’s just unbelievable. We did the 2 day short Inca Trail and David was beyond exceptional. His English was excellent, his local knowledge from being from a near by town meant we got a very personal history tour, not only about the Incas, but the local fauna and Flora. His passion was admirable. David made the experience perfect for someone who wants to hike and learn about the history! It was definitely a trip of a lifetime. I highly recommend!
