Interesting overview of China's highlights

This trip covered many of the highlights of China from the Great Wall to Shanghai and did it very well. Although it was rated as 'leisurely' it was very busy and perhaps Exodus could introduce a new range of ratings to reflect how busy they are as well as the physical effort required. China is an interesting country going through massive change and urbanisation, I had not expected the huge amount of building work and high rise blocks built and being built and the sheer enormity of the cities visited.

Walking the Great Wall in the less touristy sections (in fact almost no other people at all) together with the Xi'an extension to see the Terracotta Warriors surpassed my expectations. It also opened my eyes to a whole new positive side of China that my preconceived ideas had not imagined. A wide range of walking from the flat in Beijing to the undulating and steep on the Wall, on even paths to shingle and scrambling. Delicious food throughout, far superior and less salty than in the UK and friendly, curious locals. Topped off by an absolutely superb Leader/Guide Jerry, whose infectious enthusiasm, wide knowledge of all things Chinese, sense of humour and ability to tell jokes in English made for a truly memorable experience.

As a world traveler, I dont easily get stunned by the beauty of a place and communicate easily anywhere I go. I knew that English may not be very useful in China and I am very happy that I booked my tours here. These people were honest professionals and the guide was highly educated on the routes she took us and answered every single question I had.
