MONT BLANC TO THE MATTERHORN Fantastic trip, somewhat challenging but that's all part of the fun. Great sense of achievement at the end. Brilliant scenery, and we were lucky with the weather too. Very well organised trip, with an extremely competent mountain guide, who was happy for people to walk at their own pace whether that was fast or slow.
The camping was very civilised - the only campsite chores that had to be done were taking down your own tent and helping out with the washing up now and then. This made changing campsites each day hassle free. Laundry facilities were available en route - I didn't need to take as much stuff as I did.
The food surpassed all my expectations, and I am a fussy eater. Three courses every night of the best food I have ever had whilst camping.
Overall one of the best trips I have done - recommended!
Mont Blanc Highlights Sept 2017 An excellent holiday which delivered fantastic views of the mountains. We travelled in the middle of September and the week began with some unseasonably cold weather which resulted in one day walking in the snow. It was not too demanding but be prepared for cold weather. The second half of the week was much warmer and the variety of weather made the trip even more interesting as the snow was beautiful but we were also able to enjoy very sunny days. The Chalet Chamonix was very comfortable and the meals provided by Sarah and Rich were absolutely outstanding, the best we have had.
A Memorable week in the Mountains The Mont Blanc Highlights tour that we recently completed in early May 2023 was excellent. The tour guide, Mike, was knowledgeable and put together 5 days of walks that were varied and challenged the group within their limits and within the conditions at the time. As it was the first tour of the season Mike had assessed each walk by doing them prior to the arrival of the group. Each evening he would provide a briefing about the walk the following day and answer all questions. At the end of the 5 days of walking he emailed the group a map and details of each of the walks we had completed - this was appreciated by the group. Chalet Chalupa was comfortable and homely for the week of the stay. The communal areas were quite spacious (for a group of 12) and well equipped. The bedrooms were fine, although the beds would have benefited from a top sheet as we found the duvet tended to be too warm. Helena and Adrian were top hosts. They are both warm, friendly people who welcomed everyone the minute they arrived. Their cooking was delicious, and they made every attempt to cope with the various dietary requirements. The bar and snack bar were always well stocked, and they purchased additional items if requested by the guests. Their sunny dispositions and positive approach to life made them a pleasure to be around. All in all it was an excellent week and one we would unhesitatingly recommend to others.
