Loved our tour guide Diarmaid, very knowledgeable throughout the tour and added a lot of fun facts and help. Enjoyed our time with him. Unhappy with the fact you need paper money instead of charging to credit card any of the optional excursions. You need to worry to much about carrying it, or finding a bank to withdraw. And the prices increased on everything so we didn't have enough money ahead of time. Stressful The hotels rooms were tight, adequate, but would of liked to have better accommodations. Five days in advance wasn't enough time for anyone to pre-book the same hotel a night or 2 before the tour starts. Driver Alex did an excellent job.
We can't recommend this trip highly enough! The hikes were incredible--challenging, beautiful, varied, and expertly-guided. There were plenty of stops at local refuges for hot chocolate, coffee, and water bottle refills along the way. Our guide (Mark) was quite knowledgeable about the area, and our hosts (Rich and Sarah) were absolutely lovely. Sarah's cooking was OUTSTANDING--a true highlight! Finally, we enjoyed terrific camaraderie and great conversations with the other members of our group.
Chalet Chocolat is a great place to return to after an exhilarating day of walking/hiking; the chalet hosts, John & Jayne, did their utmost to make us feel at home and comfortable; the food was fantastic, with different home baking every afternoon. The Alpine walking was hard work at times but the views, flowers, wildlife and company made it all worth while. Â What a fab (albeit tiring) week! Â Â
