This trip was exceptional from the start to finish, the planning, preparation and execution of the whole program was carried out in a very professional manner, the Chalet was without doubt a bonus as it allowed the different nationalities within the group to meld together and become one happy family, the mother and father of which was without doubt Jayne and John who ran a tight but very friendly operation, their work while being unobtrusive made the stay a memorable one. As for the walks they were exceptional, the views fantastic and route selection just right for the variety of group members on the trek.
This is a wonderful trip to gladden the heart of anyone who enjoys walking in fabulous rugged mountains, alonside (and over) mountain streams and through meadows and forests. For someone like myself who is a rabid plantaholic it brings the added delight of myriad wild flowers including some very beautiful orchids. The walks were all great come rain or shine and included visiting picturesque villages and learning a smattering of history with forts and menhir. There is also a chance to visit the coast which happily has not had rampant development. The hotel is situated close to the village rail station which was ideal for hopping on to get to the start of the walks. I can reccommend aiding the local economy by visiting the bakery and at the end of a walk relaxing in a local bar, maybe with a beer or pastisse, although not compulsory it was a great way to end a great day of walking.
Tents, Tarts and Song on the Tour du Mont Blanc This was a fun, companionable and challenging trip. It was very well led and organised, with excellent food and great company. The walking itself was more challenging than I expected and it took my legs some time to adjust to climbing a mountain every day, but the reward was increased fitness and a sense of achievement. The scenery was beautiful and we were blessed with good weather on all but one of our walking days.
