Our March Provence Bike and Barge trip was a fabulous experience with the full support of a very professional crew. Our cycling guide was fantastic; he took time each day to get to know the group and chat with everyone, as well as sort any bike issues. I enjoyed the variety in the itinerary and would recommend doing the optional wine degustation in Aigues-Mortes. We always had time for the important stuff of coffee and toilet breaks. The barge meals were amazing! Despite cycling 45-50 kms a day on average, I am sure I put on weight. The on-board crew were most attentive to every issue or query. All-in-all, the trip could not have been better and only marred by unavoidable high spring floods in the French waterways. However, the reorganisation of the day-to-day cycling schedule was highly professional. The electric bikes were perfect for my partner and me were well-worth the additional dollars. Full marks to the cycle company for their daily support.
Had a wonderful walking trip with local guide Isabelle, who enthusiastically shared her vast local knowledge of the area, villages, and way of life in Provence.Hiking enjoyable ( rated 2, poles not essential, not exhausting or steep), excellent breakfast at hotel, various group dinners suggested that were delicious, wonderful day off with bus ride to Aux-en-Provence followed by thermal bath spa visit.... I highly recommend this trip.
Highly recommend this trip, not only for the varied walks and wonderful views but for the brilliant chalet hosts and group leader. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Chalet Chocolat. Thanks to Zoe and Ben for looking after us really well with faultless home-cooked food and for cultivating a comfortable atmosphere at the chalet. They were also a great source of knowledge about the local area of Chamonix in terms of food recommendations and things to do on our 'free day'. Our group leader Shaun handled our group of people with varied abilities very well, provided local knowledge and pointed out different peaks and points of interest as we encountered them on our hikes. Shaun's experience came in very handy when certain planned routes needed to be adjusted to account for sudden changes in weather conditions during our walks.
