We would like to let you know how much we enjoyed our recent holiday, "Rambling in the Luberon" and thank you for making the arrangements for us. The hotels, especially Le Mas des Romarins, were all good. We were glad we were able to stay at L'Auberge des Seguins, despite being in dormitory accommodation, as it was such an idyllic spot. The staff there provided superb meals, dinner, breakfast and packed lunches big enough for 2 days! The Road Book was extremely useful, the directions very clear and all the transfers worked well.
Fabulous weeks hiking ..... A wonderfull weeks hiking amongst the most beautiful scenery, Egle (Agi) was a brilliant tour guide and managed the difficulty of varying walking speeds of the group really well. She was also very knowledgable, patient and all round delightful ...every day was met with a smile. The host's at Chalet Chamonix Claire and Liz were also top notch, very helpful, nothing was too much effort, food was great, and even arranged a cake and candles for my wife's birthday....... and they didnt seem to mind too much when teased about women's driving!!!! :-) ....only slight downside was the chalet, a little tired/old and in much need of some tlc (that is no reflection on Claire or Liz), on a plus it was well situated to walk into the town centre! We were lucky with the varied international group as well, 2 Canadian, 2 Americans, 2 Aussies, 2 Koreans and 3 English; a lot of laughs were had - some great and interesting characters.
Chamonix itself is beautiful, many bars and restaurants to choose from and some great cable rides 'Aguille du Midi' and 'Brevent' in particular. We chose to book paragliding, if your ever going to do it .....there is nowhere better.
This was our third Exodus trip, and can never fault them; we have already booked Tuscany for next year ....bring it on!
Amazing, challenging and rewarding We’ve just returned from this trip and it was amazing. The views are stunning on this trip, Maria was our guide and he was just great. He got us safely round, motivated us when we needed it and was a pleasure to spend time with. The lodges are great, there’s towels and shower gel provided. Some had hairdryers but not all. After a days trekking it was great to have a few drinks and a nice meal with the group, we did the pack ups just for easiness which were pricier but good, there were more options for buying your own stuff the second half of the trek. We ended up with 8kg in our bags and we had everything we needed, packing lightly is the key as you’ve also got water and pack up to carry! Fitness wise it’s a hard but doable trip, the fitter you are the more you’ll enjoy it, the uphills are a slog but the views are worth it. We personally found walking poles a necessity, they saved my joints a lot especially on the downhills. We had a few dips in the rivers but just in our walking gear, it was cold but very refreshing at the end of the day! The last two nights we spent in Chamonix and it was great to have your spare bag for fresh clothes and a few little luxury’s. Highly recommend this trip, if your in doubt just book it, Exodus are a great company to travel with, thanks again Maria for being a great guide!
