The tour was so much fun and we packed a lot in, the only thing that the tour didn’t include was Acropolis. We had an awesome tour guide that made sure my meal requests were put into the kitchens (vegetarian) Definitely recommend this tour, perfect amouny of relaxation as well as fun and cultural experiences!
Trekking in the dramatic Pindus Mountains Beginning in Greece's second largest city, Thessaloniki, we travel westwards by minibus for 4.5 hours to reach Zagoria with its spectacular arch stone bridges. The scenery was spectacular walking amongst 5 of the bridges which date back as far as the 17th century and is a masterpiece of local architecture. There was a hike up to the Astraka Mountain refuge which commanded a 360 degree awe- inspiring views of rugged mountains and watching the sunset was amazing. The trek ended in Meteora where we arrive to another spectacular sunset over the rock pillars of mountains where monasteries are located on the tops. We followed the hiking paths of the 12th century monks and visited one of the top-cliff monasteries.
Eight days flashed past. We covered a lot of ground, but the travelling was carefully planned and broken up with site visits.
Our Greek tour guide, Eva, provided valuable information about where to eat and what to do in free moments. More about her later......
The hotels were comfortable and central. The driver, Manolis, was steady and safe and the roads are much improved.
