- Spend some time by mineral-rich Malawi Lake, which supports the existence of many endemic fish species. Book diving and boat tours from the lodges and relax on unspoiled beaches.
- Organize your own excursion to Domwe and Mumbo islands from Cape Maclear at Lake Malawi’s southern end.
- Take a guided tour to Majete Wildlife Reserve from Blantyre. There, you will likely see the Big Five (elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and buffalo) and many other wildlife species throughout the expansive woodland.
- Tour Nyika National Park to appreciate vast plains inhabited by diverse plants (orchids, gladioli, lobelias…) and rich wildlife. As you get around, you will see large herds of antelopes and zebras followed by leopards and hyenas.
- Visit Liwonde National Park for the exceptional birdwatching.

- English is spoken by most Malawi residents.
- ATMs are omnipresent and credit cards are accepted. However, have some cash with you since power cuts are likely to occur.
- Internet is available in most accommodation units and in internet cafes in major towns.
- Over 10% of the Malawi populace is estimated to be HIV positive, so take safety precaution.
- Make sure to take vaccines against malaria, yellow fever and tetanus before you visit Malawi.
