An excellent and most fascinating holiday This was a well organised trip. Namibia is a vast country of great contrasts and spectacular scenery. Each area we visited was so different and fascinating and our guide (Shane Katjirua) was incredibly knowledgeable about the history, geology, people and wildlife of each particular region. This all contributed to a very interesting and most enjoyable holiday..
Excellent Tour Discovering Namibia’s Magic I took my mum to Namibia to celebrate her birthday. We were with other 9 fellow travellers and our excellent lead guide Shane. The trip was quite comprehensive and we traveled almost 3000 km, exploring some of the most beautiful and picturesque parts of the country. The truck used for the trip was quite comfortable, with large windows and operable roof. Although we traveled long distances we made frequent stops and the landscapes were always fascinating. We explored the magical desert, the skeleton coast and ship wrecks, the Etosha natural park with its wildlife and the majestic mountains/plateaus. Truly memorable. Our guide Shane was knowledgeable, kind, funny and patient. He could also spot hidden animals easily (he spotted a chameleon while driving the truck!!). Really good trip
Had dreamed of going on safari for many years so made the most of this opportunity by choosing camping and 4WD so I could get as close to nature as possible. The animals arrived immediately - not many countries you encounter warthogs, baboons and rock monitor lizards transferring from airport to the only hotel on the tour! Loved being close to animals in their natural habitat with a guide who knew his stuff. Elephants, lions, cheetahs, gnus, giraffes, a variety of antelopes, 2 different types of zebras, black rhinos - yes, but our guide spotted the small stuff: over 120 different bird species; a skink; beetles; desert rat; ground squirrels; scorpions - fascinating creatures. Tents are comfy enough; the bush showers n toilets work well enough; good bush cooking. Was sad to return from the semi-desert to the game reserve campsites in Etosha. In the bush we viewed the Perseid meteor shower in the blackest sky, millions of stars I'd never seen before, the Milky Way with a bunch of jackals cackling round the hills!
