Amazing week walking in the very beautiful Norwegian Fjords As a first time hiker I was worried about what to expect from this trip but I shouldn't have been. Spent a truly amazing week hiking varied and incredibly beautiful landscapes, interspersed with some breathtaking ferry trips. The pace was manageable (although I did start with a good base fitness) and there were often options to shorten or lengthen walks depending on capability but this was always optional. Nes Gard itself is a truly special place and perfect for an escape from real life. Waking up to the view of fjord everyday was such a contrast to living in the UK. The staff at Nes Gard are lovely and evenings were spent eating fab local food and then drinking and catching up in the bar with new found friends. This is the perfect holiday if you want a break from reality, a chance to unwind and to see some truly beautiful scenery as well as the chance to make some amazing friends.
We loved every moment of this trip - the ship (Ocean Adventurer) was extremely comfortable the food and service was second to none the guides were experts in their fields and passionate about the wildlife and the area. We were lucky enough to see Polar Bears in their own Enviroment as well as Puffins, Seals.Walrusss,Artic fox and other bird species. I would advise anyone thinking about this trip to go ahead and do it !!
Mosstrond Cross-country skiiing Fantastic scenery in a remote area, making our own tracks through the snow each day. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and, most of all, very welcoming, friendly and informal. The group sat down together around a table together for dinner each evening with the guides and the two young ladies who cooked and cleaned, which gave a lovely family feel to it. The food was very good, especially the locally caught/shot Arctic Char and Reindeer and I enjoyed the cake that was served when we returned each afternoon.
