A very pleasant tour of Sri Lanka

We did a 14 day tour starting in Colombo where we toured the Colombo Museum, Gangaramaya Temple, Galle face green, and the Red Mosque The second stop was Bentota where we were able to swim at the beach, take the Madhu River boat ride, then visit a Turtle Hatchery. The third stop was a drive to Nuwara Eliya where we stopped at Devan and St. Clair falls. The next morning we took the train to Kandy where were saw Adam's Peak and Mt. Pedro. While in Kandy we visited the Peradeniya Royal Botanical garden and the Temple of the Tooth. From Kandy we drove to Dambulla to visit Dambulla cave temple and enjoyed taking in lunch at Hiriwaduna Village where a local member demonstrated village cooking. I opted to climb Sigiriya in the morning then return back to the hotel to pick up my travel partner to tour the historic site Polonnaruwa. The next day we drove to Trincomalee and spent 3 days enjoying the beach at Nilaveli Beach. The next stop was Anuradhapura to visit Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya. Drove to Alakamandawa and spent one night before departing for Negombo to spend our final day at the beach. Our private driver was an excellent driver, very helpful and knowledgeable. We would certainly recommend this company for a tour of Sri Lanka.

Perhaps the greatest holiday I’ve ever been on. From safaris in beautiful national parks in search of elephants, to visiting fascinating ancient cities, to eating amazing food, all of it was top notch. I really cannot fault the guide (Roshan) at all. He was informative, and taught us all a thing or two about the country, it’s culture, wildlife, etc.

Great trip but not that 'leisurely'!

If you are looking for a quick introduction to Sri Lanka then this is a very good trip. The itinerary includes some great moments and you get to see quite a lot in a short space of time. It was a really nice group of travellers and the tour guide Dileepa was good fun throughout and certainly knew his stuff. The weather was very hot and humid, which was to be expected in March/April, and it only rained once during the daytime.
