Have X-C skied in many parts of world, but after over 35 years still keep returning to Kvitvatn because of the variety and excellence of the terrain and possible tours. Ski trails much improved for skaters this year, while snow conditions were wonderful in the mountains. New management and rebuild of part of original lodge both settling nicely. Ski hire and the ski preparation areas excellent as always. Food very good this year (copious smoked salmon every day!). Had to replace some ageing ski boots; the shop in nearby Rjukan -easily visited using free bus service - helpful and very well stocked.

We had lots of complications with our trip - cancellations and rearrangements due to covid restrictions, and unexpected covid tests, but Nicola at World Expeditions was excellent. She was helpful, professional, and quick to respond at all times, despite our numerous questions. And if she didn’t know an answer, she was quick to send a holding reply and go and find out for us. This is our second trip with world expeditions, and I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

The snow conditions for the week I was there were not conducive to great cross-country skiing - deep powder and rising temperatures, which made for arduous progress. Even so, we were taken on full-day tours on every day and the visibility was usually excellent, so we got some wonderful views of the area. I hope to be able to return in the near future to ski up and explore the beautiful mountains surrounding the lake. I have to make some mention of the catering at Mosstrond: it was quite simply wonderful and despite the daily exertion I am pretty sure I have lost no weight!
