The local operator did a great job. Our guide Raju was supported by Nar and Nar, our porters who were also cooks. This turned out to be really useful as the cooking is rarely very good in the tea houses. This trek is perfect. It is popular enough that you see 30-40 trekkers per day, but neve too popular that it seems too busy. But come very prepared or it will spoil your experience. 1. Dont expect to get fit here! Do it before. You will climb up at least 6,000 metres and down the same amount. It is very tough, especially the last few day at high altitude. Get fit before you come 2. Lots if people get sick and turn around. The hygiene is some of the worst you will see anywhere on the planet, so come with lots if wet nap towels, hand sanitizer, water purification pills, etc 3. Its REALLY cold at altitude and you will wear everything you have at altitude. You need to bring good gloves, hats, warm amateurs etc as i5 will get to -15-20 degrees and if youre not prepared you will suffer. Dont let me put you off though. Its a 7nique experience, just prepare carefully so you enjoy and complete it!
Great taste of culture, wide variety of scenery and authentic experience This trek is not for the lighthearted, but those intrepid enough will be greatly rewarded with an unforgettable experience. READ THIS FIRST; Accommodations are basic in Manaslu villages, meaning that there is NO HEAT in the sleeping rooms, and occasional heat in the dining areas. Hot showers are infrequent, and when available they are taken in very cold rooms. This was the most challenging part of the trip for us, as there was very little opportunity to warm up when needed during sub-freezing evenings, and apparently winter had come early this year (2017). So if you come PREPARED (or go in a warmer season) and can handle this, then read on..... What a fantastic way to experience the Himalayas and life from another time. Villages and their residents were authentic and the scenery is breathtaking. The trekking itself was a great workout, and achievable if one is in decent shape and goes slow (bistare bistare as the Nepali say). Don't come expecting to lose weight, as you will be well fed with delicious, vegetarian meals (meat isn't an option in most places on the trail)! I couldn't have asked for more (except maybe heat!) :) and am already planning my next trip to the Himalayas with BuddhaTreks.
Excellent Trekking Experience ever Good tour, friendly team, efficient service. I booked last minute, and had the tour to myself Without Porter My guide on the trek, kamal, was good at keeping me informed with the weather conditions & safety aspect, and kindly lent me his crampons. I have plenty of great memories of a beautiful country.
