Fabulous Costa Rica

A great trip with a group of 16 which gelled really well and an inspirational guide and excellent driver. The itinerary was well-planned and we saw some varied parts of the country without endless bus journeys. All the lodges and hotels were good, and some very good, as was the food and of course the coffee. There was an occasional lack of hot water indoors, and too much rain and mud outdoors, but that's the rainy season for you. We saw a simply extraordinary variety of bird, animal and reptile life, often spotted by Chico as he drove the bus. Jorge's knowledge of birds and pride in his country were constantly evident. He arranged far more walks than the itinerary suggested so that we saw as much as possible. Overall a really excellent trip.
Costa Rica Family Adventure

Family adventure trip - you moved on every couple days so you needed to pack wisely. There was a lot of boat trips and travelling around the country. There was a huge amount of wildlife to see so a pair of binoculars is good. Highlights were Tortugero National Park - truly remote location, beach at Cahuita and seeing Buttercup.
The Tour Was Great!

The tour was very good. Even though we went during the rainy season, they worked with the situation every day it rained. If you come prepared, it should not be a problem. And by coming prepared, that means bring a poncho, umbrella, rain jacket, and a change of clothes when they become wet from rain and sweat. The hotels were comfortable, the food was good, the locals were friendly, and treated us fairly in pricing. The only issue is that they should have made a better effort to describe the physical requirements of the tour. We went on 5 long walks where 3 were VERY strenuous. We are in our 70s and it was very challenging. Thank goodness we had our trekking poles to assist in one walk in the Hanging Bridges. We had to stop several times to catch our breath but the younger people went on and left us behind. Thank goodness the guy leading the tour stayed with us.
