My wife and I were booked to go on this trip 3 years ago but had to cancel at the last moment so we were thrilled to be able to manage to go on the trip this November and we were not disappointed! The trip was a perfect balance between some challenging cycling and necessary bus transfers to enable the transit of 3 countries in 14 days. Travelling through stunning open scenery and rainforests seeing how the population lived in reality and the abundant wildlife was a great experience and an education.
My husband and I had a great time, we felt comfortable and safe the whole time. Esteban was very organized and it was really nice to not have to worry about a lot of the little details that come with traveling. We felt like we got to do all the things we wanted to do in each area and never really felt too rushed or that we missed out on soemthing in the area. We also like the overal structure of a G Adventures tour so we definitely be looking into more in the future.
Exceeded high expectations! August is the rainy season, but the early morning starts meant that we fitted a lot in before the impressive downpours that sometimes happened later in the day. The range of wildlife we saw was astonishing; I'd picked this trip because of the visit to the Sloth Sanctuary, which was disappointing compared with the number of sloths that we saw in the wild. Our excellent guide was complemented by eagle eyed boat 'drivers' who also appeared to be keen and knowledgeable about wildlife and were ready and willing to nimbly propel the boats around to see something on the bank they had spotted: monkeys, lizards etc. The accommodation, in places, was not 5 star, but had its own charm and there is not that I would not happily revisit for one reason or another, even the very friendly one in Cahuita with its temperamental showers but very friendly owner.
