An amazing trip. Fantastic sights. Amazing castles. The food was INCREDIBLE. There was history and quaint villages and I got to practice my German with REAL Germans who all spoke English to a much higher level than my German. The walking tracks were in a pretty good condition, and the scenery was varied and interesting and just plain incredible. I want to do it again! Once my blisters settle down, of course.
I have traveled a lot in my life and this will rank up there with on of the best vacations in 60 years. The Hiking in Bavaria adventure was everything it said it would be and more. No trip is perfect and there were a couple of small things we would suggest, but they did not distract from a near perfect week of hiking, eating, and sightseeing. The self-guided tour booklet needs updated as the signage has changed and even some of the huts names are different too, but we still were able to find our way just fine. It is more hiking than the overview suggests, but this is a very doable trip for average to ardent hikers.
This was a near perfect trip that we wish had been a week longer! Really one of my best vacations ever. The scenery cannot be captured in photos, the hiking is rigorous, but totally doable, and the accommodations were great. Everything went off without a hitch.
