We completed the Hiking the Apuane Alps in late September of 2019. We were pleasantly surprised with the accommodations and thoroughly enjoyed our days hiking despite some challenges with the rain on a few days. The views are amazing and the woods enchanting. We hope to do another Sherpa trip in the future.
A Fabulous Week in Tuscany A fantastic week in Tuscany, the family who ran the Agriturismo were delightful and could not be more friendly, considerate and helpful. The accommodation is fairly basic, but clean and comfortable (as expected). We were worried prior to the trip about the weather, but it turned out to be sunny most of the week! The itinery was just amazing, varied and with some quite incredible walks; especially the last day hiking up Monte Sumbra - unforgetable! The walking group was a great cross section of people, and many laughs were had over the week.....all I can say is it is a 'must do' trip!
A brilliant mix of foodie and cultural delights This trip is a wonderful mixture of food and culture, with Etna thrown in for good measure! From sampling spleen sandwiches (yes, really) on the Palermo street food tour to a Marsala wine tasting and eating ricotta, still warm, that we had watched being made just minutes before, all the gastronomic experiences were enjoyable and delicious (even the spleen wasn't that horrendous). The cultural highlights for me were the amazing mosaics at the Villa del Casale and the Duomo and cloisters at Monreale, whilst experiencing Etna in the snow was simply stunning. Our guide, Rosario, was brilliant, and our group, made up of mostly couples and with around 30 years from oldest to youngest, bonded really well - as one of the three singles, and one of the youngest, I never felt isolated.
