Steptastic Italian Adventure A well structured trip that takes in both the famous Cinque Terra villages, but also some less frequented and equally stunning hiking routes. There is plenty to do in this area and Moneglia is a good base, as it is lively without being overrun with tourists, which is sadly the case in some of the other towns nearby. Eating out most evenings means you get to experience authentic and varied Italian cuisine and the hotel is comfortable and welcoming.
The Guide made the whole experience much better. They are very knowledgeable and can also save you so much time and stress getting in to see The David. Highly recommend this tour group.
An amazing tour, from the Roman ruins to the Vatican and the incredible city of Venice, every place we visited exceeded our expectations! Our tour leader Vinni was knowledgeable and passionate about Italy. His quick wit and often sarcastic sense of humour were seriously infectious and made us fall in love with him immediately. Vinni took the time to get to know us. He offered expertise on places to see, restaurants to try, best gelato stops, and so much more. He taught us how to cross the busy streets of Rome without getting killed, use the metro or navigate the bus/ tram systems confidently. Thanks to Vinni, we quickly became a tight knit group and were left with many wonderful friendships at the end. Not to be forgotten, our driver Franco's most competent driving skills blew our minds. Franco made us feel safe while expertly navigating the narrow streets, hairpin turns, and tight parking spaces. Expat explore is a great company that takes the time to provide the best experiences to travellers. I would highly recommend this tour to everyone who thrives on adventure, exploring new places and sightseeing. There was a lot of walking, often uphill or upstairs but necessary and so rewarding when you realize how much you've done and seen in such a short time! My only ask of Expat Explore is to be more clear on the Vatican excursion. If impossible to book a tour, travellers should be advised to book their skip-the-line tickets in advance to use on their free day in Rome. Lastly, the Antica Tabaccaia Resort nestled in the beautiful countryside of Tuscany was disappointing through no fault of Expat Explore or the tour guides. The hotel was unprepared to provide meals in the restaurant for a large tour bus of people, leaving many guests hungry, closed the pool at 5:30pm even though we phoned ahead and were told a later time, and the single towel per guest was not on par with the reputation of this resort.
