This trip was amazing in so many ways. The beauty of the Dolomites is unbelievable and cannot be captured in photographs. The hikes are quite challenging, but the views are incredibly rewarding. Our local Italian guides (Miriam and Ivan) added so much to the experience. The refugios were very nice and the hotels were absolutely great a€“ especially the one in San Cassiano. The food was also exceptional every day of the trip. I loved the challenge of the via ferrata on the last day. What an end to a wonderful trip!
While I had previously been on several tours, this was my first one with this tour operator and I wasn't sure what to expect. Unlike other participants, I took my own bike and the only slightly stressed moment was having to re-assemble it late at Bolzano after a late arrival. After that, all aspects of the trip were most enjoyable. The route, much of it on excellent cycle paths, took us through varied and often very beautiful landscapes. The moderate distances and level of difficulty suited me well as a 75 year-old whose powers have declined a little. Starting and finishing our rides quite early enabled us to explore and enjoy some very beautiful and interesting towns and cities with some stunning architecture. Our enjoyment was greatly enhanced by our leader, Michele's lively and knowledgeable commentary on all that we saw, reflecting the deep love and knowledge he has of the region which is his home. The accommodation was general good or very good for the price we were paying and the restaurants that Michele took us to were all good and made our evenings as enjoyable as our days. Michele's excellent leadership, warm, lively, extraverted personality, concern for others and great sense of fun hugely contributed to building a strongly bonded tour group.
Great Cycling, Food and Sights in Southern Italy - Cilento & Amalfi Coast Fantastic trip. This was our first guided group cycling trip and our first trip to Italy. Loved the mix of cycling and culture. We enjoyed interacting with our fellow travelers very much as we shared the journey.
There is a great variety of cycling with beautiful views throughout: from steady climbs, fun descents, undulating rolling and winding roads, long stretches in the quiet countryside, and exciting sections of busy but good flowing coastal traffic, Besides cycling, we also got to do some swimming and to boat into a lovely blue grotto.
The food and scenery on this trip is really wonderful. We had amazing lunches in beautiful spots every day.
Our bikes worked very well and were well cared for.
On our final free day, Paulo led a (steep) hike up to Ravello and down to Amalfi. This hike into the orchards and quiet areas above the tourist-heavy centers was a beautiful trek that deepened our appreciation for the region's culture and history. Others in our group enjoyed their free day in Pompeii or Capri.
