amazing trip.. scenery, guides and porters all wonderful people. you are in safe hands. please note you will be expected to pay 150 USD in tips.. this is something mentioned in the meeting when you start your trip and then re-enforced by the guides on the trip. my only suggestion is there should be one more day overnight at the top of the mountain as the day of the basecamp walk was incredibly long, followed by a 4am start to see kala patter - everyone in my group was totally wiped on these days..
I only enquired to join the trek 2 weeks before the start date but Chhatra was very helpful and gave me lots of information and confidence to join the trek with his company.
I was met in Kathmandu and introduced to the trekking group and also brought around Thamel to buy important trekking equipment (at a good price). Throughout the trek, the guides and porters always put our welfare first. They made sure we had good warm rooms, we had food to eat first before they ate and we had lots of fun during the trek.
It was and still is an unbelievable experience for me, all the more made better by Chhatra's company and our excellent guides and porters.
What an adventure! We had been planning this trip for a couple of years and it did not disappoint. It was a real test of character - the coldest winter in a long time and -27 at base camp. The views are simply stunning - we had clear skies so every step was a different view. There were times when sat in our icy teahouse room that we questionned what we were doing but it really is a once in a lifetime experience that we will never forget.
