I chose World Expeditions over other companies for my adventure for the following reasons; Their itinerary was the longest for my chosen trek, allowing more time to acclimatise. I liked their ethical approach to trekking in this remote region. The provision of meals, boiled water, and high value items such as down sleeping bags and jackets meant several key areas were taken care of by experts allowing me to focus on trekking. Whilst trekking, issues inevitably were encountered, and how these were dealt with further impressed me, for example; This years monsoon season was quite hard and longer than usual, grounding pretty much all internal flights as we were due to start. Our guide reacted to this brilliantly, and instead of chasing elusive & expensive helicopter flights, managed to source what turned out to be 1 of only a couple of flights to an alternative airstrip followed by a 4x4 trip to get the group to a suitable start point. Our group was also very diverse with regard to individual abilities, but nothing was too much trouble and lots of minor adjustments were made to ensure everybody both enjoyed and completed the entire trek. A final example of standing out was on the day we trekked through the Cho La pass, a particularly long, challenging and cold day. Our guide recognised this and arranged for the Porters and Kitchen staff to set up a remote kitchen tent in a valley on the far side of the pass and provide us with hot drinks & soup etc in addition to our packed lunches - this was incredible to be sat at over 5000m in the absolute middle of nowhere taking on warm refreshments whilst others just passed by! I would have no hesitation in both using World Expeditions again or recommending them to others.
We enjoyed the hustle and bustle just like the peace in Nepal. Beautiful country, only sorry for the very poor road infrastructure. Unforgettable! Pure people and very well aware that we are right, but they have a lot of beautiful things to offer. Beautiful people in a beautiful country. Glad we were able to do this in February just before the Corona.
