The tour operator was very responsible, which is very important in a tour like this. Every person I had contact was very professional and competent. I would advise through that people doing this training should be very fit and trained for altitude. Otherwise it will be very hard and risky to complete the trekking and not pleasurable. I ran weekly and though I was medium fit but I had to be evacuated from the EBC once I reached there as I couldn't go back by myself. The company support and accompanied me all the way, assist in everything I needed and couldn't ask for more. But to be clear EBC trekking should be done for experienced climbers that have already ascended 3000 meter before and gave altitude training. Otherwise even if you finish it you will not enjoy it, it will be very painful. It's 15 days not stop climbing. There were nights I felt I could walk to the toilet for how exhausted I was.
Excellent High Passes Trek This local tour company organized an awesome trip for me to do the Three High Passes trek in Everest region. Unfortunately, I had to come down early due to altitude sickness, but the company was with me every step of the way. The owner Raj met me at the hospital and helped smooth over things so that I could get discharged as soon as possible. I had no intention of spending the night in the hospital while on holiday. He even picked up my medical records for me later in the week since I had moved on to Pokhara. Highly recommended trek!
Bhutan is a beautiful country, the air is very fresh and the in the main is very clean - an antidote to Kathmandu! This is a trip that takes in the cultural highlights of Bhutan as well as letting you see and walk in the beautiful countryside. The people are friendly and welcoming - browsing the shops and markets is easy -if you have been to India you will know what I mean ! There is no hard sell! There is a fair ammount of travel but this is quite relaxing and there are plenty of stops.Food is always buffet style and becomes very monotonous - you could try asking for an a la carte menu and pay extra, otherwise it is noodles, rice, veg and, if you are not vegetarian some rather poor quality meat dishes - and you get this twice a day! My food highlight was a large bowl of scrambled eggs at the Tigers Nest! Take snacks!
