The three passes Everest trek is a great way of getting to know the different valleys around the Everest area: Khumbu, Chhukung, Thame... The scenery is outstanding and the trek is physically demanding enough for those who want a bit of a challenge.
Great trip fulfilled all our expectations. The trekking was hard work but the scenery made it all worth while. The guide was excellent as were all the porters and local guides. And really appreciated the comfort of the lodges and the good, varied foods they provided.
Get out of your comfort zones We chose 4 people 12 day EBC trek by the local operator. In my opinion, 4-6 people is a maximum one should go hiking with because otherwise you are just waiting and waiting behind the others. It is a lot of walking, climbing up and down of the mountains but the experience is worth a lifetime. Rai, our guide, was an excellent choice - even though if sometimes a little hard to understand, he blended in with our team and really became as a team member. It is not an easy trek, so be prepared for up and downs, days without shower (or if with shower, an unbelievably cold one) but this is full blown experience - little comfort which in the end unites you. For sure, go for full board and do not choose cheap(est) provider. Of course, everything is doable like that as well, but in the end you spend more money on food and lodging than the price difference in the beginning.
