If You're Lucky, Raj Will Be Your Guide They take care of everything. Reply promptly to any questions. Have great guides and porters. Have great suggestions for what to pack. Accommodations are VERY near the offices. So many pluses. A couple suggestions, there is a weight limit on the flight to Lukla. Ask them what that is and take time to pack according. There is a small fee for being overweight. Give the porters a break though. Stick to the limits. You can find almost any gear you want or need in KTM. BUT, purchase your footwear at home and have them broken in. In KTM, you can buy slightly used gear, or even off-name brand gear that is still excellent quality. The new, name brand gear is still spendy. Anything you want or need, you can get in KTM. Make a list, pack it with you. Fill your needs in KTM, save some money, enjoy the purchase process, throw the locals a bone, and don't worry about lost baggage on your way there. Plan some extra time in KTM if possible. There is so much to experience. Have a Red Yak for me!
Me and my friend made an impromptu plan to Nepal for trekking. We were not sure in the start with which company we should go with, after calling and chatting to so many people we decided to go with this operator and I tell u that was our best decision. As we were two girls so they provided us Guide(Rajaram jee, age 42) and Potter (Dil bhaiya, age 19) accordingly. Our guide and Potter were very helpful and supportive. Guide also helped us to buy trekking stuff in the start of the trip as we were new to the place and did a good bargain with the locals. Lodges where we stayed were neat and clean and generally food was good home cooked food. The whole trekking experience was awesome! As it was a monsoon season, jungles are full of greenery and streams. Every site is so different from each other and yet so beautiful.
This was the most wonderful trip. Words really can’t describe it. The Himalayas are awesome, the walking wonderful. Going over the tharong la pass was immensely challenging and we all made it. We saw wonderful sights, a baby vulture still with its white down, magnificent mountains, the sun rising over Poon hill, isolated villages where we were welcomed as we walked through, temples and monasteries. The food was freshly cooked throughout. The only down side was that some walking involved going along the road which is being build along the trek. If you’re thinking of going on this trek, I would recommend going sooner rather than later as this road continues to be built. It was lovely walking in the company of like minded people and we had a lot of laughs and supported each other throughout. Gun, our leader and his fellow guides could not have done more. They were kind, supported where needed, acted as nature leaders, made sure we had everything we needed. One final point. This is graded at a level 5 and it feels harder than that. We had 19 days walking, starting usually at 7.30am (usually up by 6.15-30 ..... Gum only let us have an extra 30 mins sleep after crossing the tharong la pass 😀😀) and finishing at 4-5. So in summary. Tough and extraordinarily wonderful !! Go for it.
