My friend and I booked the 12 days EBC trekking package. This was our 2nd time to Nepal. Nevertheless, on the 7th day of our trek, the devastating Nepal Earthquake happened. We were really blessed and protected by God throughout the next 6 days, and I think one of the biggest reason is because we have good support of mountain guide Arjun and porters who had worked their very best to ensure our remaining trek as safe as possible. On the days before the earthquake, the tea-house that we stayed are reasonably comfortable (we have make mental preparation that we are coming for trekking tour, not luxury tour). Some even with hot shower! The team works far more than what I had mentioned above. I'm safely back home without any severe health / injury issue. They are sincere people. They did their best to keep us safe though they have bigger worries and urgency for their home and family. Words couldn't express how much I appreciate what our tour operator has done. The beauty of Nepal and Nepalese will always remain in my heart.
My husband and I had an AMAZING trip to base camp with this local operator! (Heads up this will be a long review) First of all, Upendra was an excellent manager who helped make the process smooth and stress free. He was in touch with us soon after booking to provide some extra trip details and ask if we also needed a hotel stay (which we did). We were a little worried on the way over because we had requested for airport pickup and our flight was cancelled and then delayed multiple times. I messaged him once on whatsapp to let him know, and he said not to worry, they were tracking our flight and someone would be there to pick us up from the airport. When we got to the airport there must have been over a hundred people outside holding a sign with someone's name, but sure enough, front and center we saw someone with our name. Before we knew it we were taken off to the hotel (which I have to note had an amazing restaurant and spa), then off to a debriefing meeting, then hitting the hay before starting our journey! On day 1 of the trek we had to take a shuttle to a village 4 hours from Kathmandu due to construction issues at the local airport. I actually really enjoyed this drive, my husband and I didn't have long in Kathmandu so it was nice to be able to see the countryside on the way over. The trek itself was amazing and beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our 12 days with our guide, Hari. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area, you could point to any mountain and he could tell you the name and exact elevation. He taught us a lot about the area and local people as well, letting us know what most people did for work, how the school system work, what days were rest days, how weddings worked, and even showed up pictures of his local village in North Nepal. Hari did a great job balancing keeping us company and letting us have our own time. If we wanted to hang out in the tea house he was always willing to play some cards and tell us stories and if we were tired and wanted to go to bed he'd take our breakfast order and wish us a good night's rest! Hari was not only a great guide but a great person. At one part of the trek we saw a calf stuck in some barbed wire and Hari immediately ran uphill to it and helped set it free. When we got to Gorak Shep, they were completely booked with no rooms available. We were told we might have to sleep on the dining floor but Hari sat at the front counter for just bout an hour, going back and forth with the owner until finally, he walked away with a key for us to have our own room. They didn't have enough room for him though and he slept in a tent outside. He made sure we were okay everyday and made sure we had a successful trek to basecamp and back. He was also really fun to be around! He taught us new card games, got into a snowball fights with us, threw rocks into tree holes - it made the trip extra enjoyable. We were lucky to have great weather the entire trip. I was surprised at how warm a majority of the trip was, often times we were hiking without jackets and sweating. The day we visited basecamp though it was snowing, which was really cool to experience. I highly recommend Hari and the operator to anyone interested in doing this trek!
Everest base Camp Trek - Perry Burton This trip has awesome in every respect. I am so pleased we choose to do this trek with this tour company. We saw lots of other groups on the trek and none of these seemed to be quite so well looked after as our group.
