From no snow to lots of snow! When we arrived in Rialp the area had seen no snow for more than a month, so the first couple of days were spent walking rather than snowshoeing. This was not necessarily a disadvantage because it enabled us to do longer walks to different villages and, at least on the first day, enjoy the sunshine! Then on Wednesday the snow arrived with a vengeance, so the snowshoes got thoroughly tested as well, often in deep virgin snow. I had no idea about the history or culture of the area and learned a lot from our leader, Miguel, during the week. The local wine and cheese sampling sessions he laid on for us were also much appreciated!
It was an amazing experience! Our team leader Emiliano was truly wonderful , awesome and amazing, very helpful and a good team leader . He always made everyone comfortable and entertained. He's very knowledgeable with the history and culture of the place, providing us good tips and suggestions of beautiful places to explore! Paolo, the driver was also amazing and incredibly very experienced driver. He really knew his role well, navigating difficult routes and handling our baggage's in order. Thank you so much! Looking forward to another trip with Expat Explore!
We were a group of 4 friends in our late 60s who had planned to do the Camino in 2020 prior to Covid. All our accommodation on the trip was fantastic. Even the one star hotels were extremely clean and had generous breakfasts and dinners. We upgraded our accommodation in Arzua and it was sensational. We had massages for our aching legs in the hotel. We also upgraded the accommodation in Santiago de Compestela and the hotel was beautiful. The baggage transfer went without a hitch. I would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting to experience the Camino with a higher level of comfort than is available to most pilgrims.
