It’s great - when the sun shine Iceland is a clean, safe, ( subject to volcanic action), and beautiful place to visit, but in between the places of interest there is a lot of lava. Green, black or white, it becomes tedious, and particularly when visibility is limited. The journeys between the sites can be rather dull, long and boring. If and when the sunshines, everything looks brighter including the numerous waterfalls and beautiful beaches, but Iceland this May was fairly wet and cloudy. The accommodation we experienced was absolutely fine. Food is expensive but by the end of the tour we got used to the cost and even splashed out on a beer each. Prior to that, we shared a glass! The fish at The Grillhuise in Reykjavik was excellent.
Our travel expert planned out an amazing trip for my family and didn’t leave out any details from the car service at the airport, wonderful hotels, tours and activities that fit me and my husband and our two teenagers. We only had 6 days in Iceland and every day was well planned. We had a wonderful guide and he was thoughtful about what we needed during our 4 day tour with him. He went out of his way to add in stops along the way that were special to our family. We felt like we got a “locals” perspective on Iceland, it’s people and history which we would not have received if we were driving ourselves. This really made the trip special.
Incredible first taste of Iceland After a 4 hour flight delay and miserable weather the first morning, our luck changed and we had glorious sunny weather for the rest of the trip which showed a wintry Iceland off in all its glory. Although the trip is short, a lot is packed in and we did and saw more than I'd anticipated. The scenery really was stunning and I would love to go back in summer to explore further. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this trip to others, although I think the weather can have a really big impact on how enjoyable it will be.
