We were delighted with our self-guided trip, Rota Vicentina to Algarve. The beautiful beaches, with interesting vegetation and colorful cliffs. We enjoyed the guesthouses, Celeste had very much charm although not luxurious, our house in Carrapateira were excellent for us. We were happy the tips you gave us to stop in Sarges on our way from Cabo de Sao Vicente (we asked our taxi driver to drop us out on a beach bar). In whole the trip was an adventure.
Super trip - well worth trying it We did the Porto to Lisbon trip a few years ago and loved the country, Atlantic coast scenery and food, so felt we should complete the route. So pleased we did. It was quite different with an enjoyably more challenging route, a fair amount off road, on some sandy and gravel tracks which we enjoyed. Good weather, decent hotels and great food. In a small group with good company, and good organisation by our guide, it all amounted to a very enjoyable trip.
Impressive sites to see, good guide/driver You would think that so many sites in one day is not possible, but it is possible in this more than full day trip. Our guide/driver (Joao/John) would give some background information in the car before arrival at a site and explain the main things to see once there. After that there was enough time to walk around on your own, take pictures etc. He was always willing to answer questions and is a good driver. The sites are very impressive, each in their own way. After all the churches, chapels and monasteries, the medieval town of bidos is a very nice final stop. We were only 4 people on the tour, so almost private. Very good deal for the price.
