I read previous reviews prior to going on the trip, and they are all accurate. I would add that I was borderline fit enough for this holiday so found it challenging at times (it was a late decision to go), but I would not have missed a moment of it. I completed all the walks, which are all different from each other. The group I was with was very supportive. Andre the guide made one unit of us from the first night, and was watchful, prepared, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. As he said 80% is in your head, 20% in your walking ability. Apart from Andre, the other essential was walking poles, especially on the long downhill Day 4. I had not been on a holiday with the tour operator before, nor had I been on one without a companion. Any reservations I had were blown away very quickly. It was so enjoyable,I just love Madeira. I am looking for my next holiday already.
Laura our guide was amazing and very helpful for the whole group teaching us some Spanish and helping translate. The accommodation was nice and the itinerary was good. Would have been nice to spend some more time in Lisbon with our guide.
Great trip with wonderful guides I booked this trip only 2 weeks before & so happy that I did … I’d never been to Portugal & really glad that I finally have seen it by cycling .. Porto was beautiful & really wished as others have suggested that I could have come earlier .. the days on this trip were full on. we would cycle from one hotel to the next normally starting out at 9.30 ending at 4.30ish with lovely lunches each day paid for out of the kitty that is collected at the start of the week .. (75euro ) then a group meeting about the next days cycle & finally our group leader ( Ruben ) would book a restaurant for us. inevitably we would be back out the door for 6pm for drinks with eating around 8ish for those who wished to join … so very lucky with our group such a great bunch of people who were all very sociable
