Overall, the tour was excellent. Diverse group of travelers. Good pace and ample time to do our own thing. Our guide Stefi was enthusiastic and positive. The MyStory Hotel Tejo in Lisbon is comfortable and in a great location. Stops in Obidos, Batalha, and Nazar were all worthwhile. The two main cities, Lisbon and Porto, are beautiful with great food, art, culture. Transport was smooth and safe. A couple of areas for improvement: the hotel in Coimbra (Hotel Astoria) is older and the rooms and beds are uncomfortable. Also, no WiFi in the rooms. The hotel on Porto (Hotel Da Bolsa) was a bit iffy too. All hotels in great locations through.
Fantastic week in southern Portugal A great overall experience. Fantastic scenery, most cycling on quiet roads , off the beaten track. Really got to have an authentic experience. Exceptional hotel choices.. charming and sometimes quirky. Ricardo (guide) and Vitor (driver) were incredible… very supportive and couldn’t do enough to help. All restaurant choices were excellent. The cycling was straight forward… and there is a significant amount of off road cycling which I hadn’t done before but found to be very enjoyable and it has inspired me to do more.
As a senior I found the two longer mileage days a bit of a challenge but overall it was a great walking holiday. The hotels and the food were excellent. I especially enjoyed the boat trip, as well as walking the final three days to Santiago, like real pilgrims. The medieval border town of Tui was fascinating. I loved the stone and water route on Day 6. Sadly we had to walk the last 5 miles to Santiago in the rain, which was disappointing. The scenery was varied along the way although I found some sections alongside the road tedious.
