The Turkey part of the tour was excellent. Our tour guide, Nadir, really took care of us. I had no idea what to expect from Turkey. I was in for a very pleasant surprise. Food, place, people. Pleasing to all senses. My Favorite experience is going to be hot air balloon, and all of capadoccia and pamukalle. Also I must indicate that I lost my phone and it was returned to me. My eternal gratitude to the staff at Brownies Restaurant and Karaca Hotel. The Greek part of the trip, however, was not so successful. The agent who met us in Athens was in a hurry and left out some details. For example, he did not inform us that dinner was included in the walking tour of Athens. According to the tour information, breakfast was included on the whole Greece leg. There was no breakfast at Mykonos hotel. Our transfer to Heraklion also failed to pick us up when we arrived. We had to call Greca Travel to make sure we had an airport transfer. Thanks to the help of Hotel Costello City. Ismail was also very helpful. He made sure we moved to Istanbul when we missed our next flight. He also offered to refund our taxi fare in Heraklion. I won't be using Greca Travel in the future, but I will probably use the guide again.
This is a wonderful walking/sailing holiday where you can see places in Turkey that you wouldn't see on a typical tour. It was amazing to be hiking and stumble across ancient ruins in many places -- and not see a single other person. I imagined that I was walking in the footsteps of Homer.
You certainly pack a lot into this 5 day trip which delivered despite the ever changing winter weather. Our guide Oskar as flexible with the itinerary which meant that we were able to get the most out of each day. The highlight was the glacier walk and we even got a glimpse of the northern lights one night.
