If you want to see Everest Base Camp and climb Kala Pattar but don't just want to go up the valley and back down again, this is the trip to choose assuming you can spare the extra few days. This longer circuit, taking in both Gokyo Ri and one of the High Passes (Cho La), is well worth it: it's quieter, has stunning views in its own right and will allow you more acclimatisation time prior to the regular Everest bits. I can safely say it was the most varied, wonderful and fulfilling 15 days' walking I've ever done, and I'd recommend it to anyone with two feet and a head for heights.

I found AME to be a professional, experienced, client-centered company. From pre-trip planning, airport pick-up and drop-off, and of course the actual trek, they did an excellent job in all areas. Their main concern at all times was that I have a successful, happy experience which I certainly did. I am still smiling about making it over the Larkya La Pass. If you are planning a trip to the Himalayas, this company is deserving of your consideration.

It was very easy to engage with this tour operator. Subash was able to customise our stay to ensure best use of the available time. We did a four hour tour around Darjeeling to the main sites. We followed with a day hike that was customized to suit our age (late 60s). A car trip to Gangtok included a visit to the Rumtek Monastery. We visited Gangtoks main sights, including the Museum of Tibetology, Enchey Monastery, the market and Tasha Viewpoint. Our guide Lama was excellent throughout, with very good English, extensive subject knowledge and a real concern for our comfort and well-being. Drivers were very good and their vehicles in excellent condition.
