Honest insights from past guests on our Oman tours
Excellent tour leader. Great tour to introduce us to Oman, its culture and wonderful sites. Would have been more comfortable in a bigger bus. This along with the hotel to airport transfer failing to turn-up loses a star on my rating.
We thoroughly enjoyed this trip in a country about which we knew little in advance. As always with Explore the booking process was very smooth and the trip itself was well planned. It was fast paced, we covered a lot of ground in a fleet of 4x4 vehicles which gave the whole experience an exhilarating feeling. It also meant we experienced the wide variety this country has to offer, coastline, desert, mountains and old towns and villages. The accommodation was generally excellent, especially the desert camp and the View resort with its spectacular location. The decision to spend 2 nights in Nizwa worked well and the town centre location of the hotel was a great base for wandering Our guide, Muatasim, looked after us very well. He was passionate about his country and made sure we all had a good experience. A lot of the time we travelled in a vehicle with 4 people and we were very lucky to have a driver, Harib, who spoke good English and was keen to help us understand his country. He was also a brilliant driver! Overall we really enjoyed our experience of Oman and would thoroughly recommend this trip
Excellent tour with great overview of Oman. Chose this itinerary because of the added day in Jebel Ahkdar and was worth it. Fabulous scenery with the mountains, wadis, abandoned villages and the balcony walk on the Jebel shams canyon. Full group divied in 5 very comfortable 4X4 jeeps for transportation. Nice ensuite cabins (not tents) in the desert. Wonderfull location of the Nizwa hotel giving access to the city at night time, when all the locals are out and about. Good food, included meals and the others. I would recommend this trip without any hesitation.
We really enjoyed the dramatic contrast in Oman's geography, which almost seemed to change at every corner, from its rugged limestone peaks, rocky canyons and refreshing wadis, extensive sand dunes through to the sub-tropical coastal plains.
Our trip to Oman was unforgettable. With no preconceived expectations, we were amazed by its dramatic mountains, deep canyons, lush wadis, vast deserts, and beautiful coastline. It’s a remarkably safe country, and most people speak enough English to make travelling easy. We had a few memorable moments, including our tent collapsing at both the beach and the wadi camps due to strong winds. We also witnessed a blue‑green algae bloom that created glowing phosphorescence in the sea, though it sadly left thousands of dead fish along the shore — not the best beach for swimming. Driving through the desert and exploring the dunes was a highlight, and our desert hotel felt especially luxurious after a night of beach camping. Overall, experiencing Oman’s diversity and natural beauty was truly special.
I was lucky enough to join this trip as an Exodus staff member, and enjoyed very minute! There were areas where other tourists were few and far between, and whilst I was prepared for beautiful deserts, the mountains were stunning. We were able to eat amazing meals for less than £2, and camping under the stars was unreal.
