Everything was very good except the hotel near Encumeada which was expensive,had very poor staff, and no acoustic attenuation between rooms. In short wholly unsatisfactory.For this reason this tour company does not get an Excellent rating

This holiday provided straightforward walking in exceptional and sometimes unusual scenery in great company and with an experienced and characterful guide. It was exactly what we were looking for in a short break from the British winter. The accommodation was excellent and the whole trip was well organised, and good value. Everyone involved that we met (eg hotel staff, transfer vehicle drivers etc) were without exception helpful and friendly. We found the holiday relaxing and rewarding.

Such a beautiful island! All our drivers were friendly, polite and helpful with advice. The hotels were all of a decent quality and some were excellent, particularly the hotels in Funchal and Santo Serra. The included meals were all very good, including local specialities. A really interesting range of walks; we particularly enjoyed the high level walk from Pico Ruivo to Ecumeada. The levada walks were much more varied than I expected, through different types of forest, and usually with far-reaching views. A very well organised trip. Now we'd like to explore the rest of the island!
