Bolivia Tours and Trips

As one of only two landlocked countries in the Americas, Bolivia is considered one of the world's most remote countries - making it even more exciting to discover! The tourism industry in Bolivia has been slow to start but is quickly picking up pace with most visitors coming for holidays and trips from its neighbouring countries of Brazil and Chile. This country is incredibly diverse when it comes to both geography and culture, with plenty of natural phenomenon and traditional experiences to explore.

Bolivia Highlight

What makes Bolivia unique compared to other destinations in South America?

Far less touristic than other South American destinations, Bolivia remains refreshingly authentic and reveals its raw and untouched landscapes and cultures. Here, you won't find staged tourist attractions, but unfiltered experiences and meaningful cultural connections. Bolivia is rugged but offers experiences that leave no one unchanged — perfect for seasoned explorers seeking adventure, ready to improvise, embrace the unexpected, and welcoming surprises. Bolivia calls to experienced adventurers who thrive on authentic challenges.

Bolivia's Hidden Gem

One lesser-known, off-the-beaten-path destination in Bolivia and why is it special?

Toro Toro National Park! Rarely visited despite its extraordinary treasures. Just a few hours from Cochabamba — itself off the typical tourist circuit — this hidden gem boasts spectacular rock formations and one of South America's most important fossil sites.

Bolivian Way of Life

What are some key cultural insights you think travelers should know before arriving in Bolivia?

Be ready for the unexpected! From road blockades (bloqueos), to spontaneous delays — punctuality is a subjective matter in Bolivia. As the adage says: Everything is possible, nothing is certain — “todo es posible, nada es seguro" — this perfectly captures the local mindset. So, embrace flexibility and patience as essential travel companions.

Bolivia Tour Reviews

Honest insights from past guests on our Bolivia tours

Would not recommend this tour

I booked this tour in September 2025, expecting a group tour of the island, and learning about the history of the Inca’s through a guide. What we got instead was a self-guided Bolivia Hop tour. If you’re looking to do this, I would recommend booking directly through Bolivia Hop and paying $39 (at the time of writing this review). We were also provided accomodation through this tour company, and they booked us accomodation at the very top of the island (which was incredibly hard for my 65 year old mother to get to) which cost $29 a night for two people. The itinerary they also provided me was wrong, with wrong information and timings. For example, they told us we could catch a ferry to the northern part of the island and then hike back and it would take three hours. However, online research and speaking to others this seemed to be wrong and there was no ferry. Instead, the hike is three hours each way and you need to catch the ferry by 3pm that day, making it nearly impossible with the altitude unless you are quite active. I do feel this advertisement is misleading, and would definitely not advise to book this through Bamba travel or Bookmundi.

The most wonderful trip!

We had the most wonderful trip through Bolivia. We saw and experienced a lot. It was very varied and action packed. We had some very knowledgeable guides throughout the trip.

I went on both the Guatemala & Bolivia Tours back-to-back. It was truly a trip of a lifetime. The guides were excellent, and the tours were full of exciting adventures and cultural immersion activities! 5/5 stars for sure!! I had the most wonderful time & I am looking forward to traveling with CharlieTheTraveler again!!! Tashi

All in all, it was a wonderful trip and we highly recommend it.

We just completed CharlieTheTraveler's Bolivia trip and had a fantastic time. The country has such a wide variety of interesting sights and we managed to visit most of the best ones. His team of local guides based in La Paz were excellent. And while all of the sights and locations were interesting, I would single out the three-day excursion to the area near Uyuni as the major highlight for us. All in all, it was a wonderful trip and we highly recommend it.

Thank you to Charlie the Traveler for making Bolivia an awesome experience we will always remember!

We saw so much in Uyuni and around La Paz that I’m not even sure where to begin. Charlie the Traveler put together a custom “tour for two” on very short notice and it was first class all the way — from the Uyuni Salt Flats to our La Paz hotel with a view of the Carnaval Parade route to the guide who took us hiking high up into the Andes. William, our contact, was in constant communication with us. We had expert drivers, comfortable vehicles, and depending on the day’s itinerary we had different bilingual guides with really impressive knowledge of Bolivia’s cultural heritage and history. We learned a lot and ate well every day! Never felt more catered to, or more pampered, by a tour company. Felt like it was truly important to everyone that we had a good time: and we did! We loved Bolivia, and I will never forget having a personal wine time set up for us in the middle of the salt flats. It was unreal! Thank you for everything William and thank you to Charlie the Traveler for making Bolivia an awesome experience we will always remember!

Excellent

I came for the salt flats but got to discover that Bolivia has so much more to offer with its culture, history, and different terrains. I appreciated being able to see both the cities and nature. It was special to witness a culture so connected to the land and Indigenous people. The CEO was exceptional: approachable, communicative, kind, informative, organized, attentive and passionate.
